Program & Presenters
Plenary Session 1: Friday, 9:00 am
After Narcissism: Toward Congregational & Clergy Humility & Healing
The term 鈥渘arcissism鈥 has gained increasing popularity in recent years. In particular, many Christians have been intrigued by the ways that self-interest and over-inflated egos seem to have become more common in churches and other mission and ministry contexts. The aim of this presentation is to explore what narcissism is, which personal and communal factors help to cultivate it, and how intentional cultivation of humility may serve as an essential corrective to this phenomenon on both an interpersonal and communal level.

Trauma-Informed Ministry: Empowering Christian Leaders to Serve with Humility & Wisdom
Recent years have seen a dramatic increase of attention in communities of faith on experiences of trauma. The need for trauma-informed ministries and ministry leaders has never been greater. This presentation will explore ways to be sensitive to the wide range of experiences of trauma that may be present in faith-based communities, as well as ways that humility and wisdom can provide a helpful antidote to experiences of pain and abuse.
