The Intercultural and Urban Studies Concentration is designed for students working in or preparing for ministry that requires the integration of social transformation and/or multicultural ministry, including roles such as missionaries, relief and development workers, and ministers to emerging generations.

Learn from committed faculty with deep expertise in these areas and engage with Fuller’s ethnic centers as you develop the ability to apply theological concepts to contextual needs in ministry, gain a deeper awareness of global trends and cultural differences, and increase your own cultural humility and intercultural understanding.

Sample courses include Organizing Urban Communities for Transformation; Globalization, Poverty and Christian Mission; and Creation Care and Sabbath Economics.

This concentration is for students committed to engaging with Muslims in a manner that embodies and bears witness to the love and character of Jesus and the Kingdom of God. The courses build a foundation for work in areas such as community development, refugee resettlement, chaplaincy, Muslim-Christian relations, peacebuilding, respectful Jesus-centered witnessing and the potential for future doctoral work in Islamic Studies.

Learning from committed faculty with years of experience serving Muslim communities in regions around the globe, students will gain a deeper understanding of the diverse institutions, cultures and interpretations that constitute Islamic traditions. Further, students will learn to develop a biblically sound, missiological response to such traditions.

Sample courses include Models of Witness in Muslim Contexts; World Religions in Art and Symbol; and Women and Family in Islam.

The Transforming Leadership concentration is designed for students who want to deepen their understanding of organizational and mission leadership beyond the scope of the MAGML degree core. It can be completed either independently or as part of the Experienced Leaders Cohort.

Facilitated by professors with years of mission leadership themselves, this concentration will equip experienced leaders who want the opportunity to deepen their connections between theory and practice and also by mission professionals who aspire to increased organizational responsibilities. It can also prepare students well for future doctoral studies in missional leadership (PhD or DGL).
